Traditional log burner installation with a Hunter Herald at Ash Priors near Tiverton, Devon.

A traditional log burner looks great in a large fireplace. Particularly so if the house is old and full of character. On this stove installation, we install a cast iron Hunter Herald wood burning stove. Hunter Stoves, by the way, are based in Exeter, Devon. So this stove is installed not far from where it is made. This keeps its carbon footprint down!

Our customers were keen to have a wood burner that would take a good-sized log length. They also wanted a stove that would be in keeping with their gorgeous period cottage. The reassuringly heavy, Hunter Herald is the choice. This stove has the option of single or double doors. The single door variant with a flat top is what our customers want. This gives the traditional look with a large glass viewing screen.

In our humble opinion, a traditional log burner looks much better with a flat top. Thankfully, not many people ask for those nasty, dated looking canopies anymore.

This is our second stove installation for our customers. It is a real pleasure to work for them. Furthermore, they are some of the nicest people that you could hope to meet. However, because we hope our stove installations will last for many years, we will all have grey hair on the next installation. Thanks, N and S.

Do I need a traditional log burner?

Hunter Stoves specialise in traditional style wood-burning stoves. This company makes great stoves and has been around for many years. However, the choice of stove design is subjective. Glowing Stoves believe that modern, contemporary woodburners look just as good as a traditional log burner in a period property. Despite the aesthetic choice, we believe the size of the stove is a key consideration. Furthermore, stove warranty, efficiency, clean-burning, and controllability are very important when choosing the right stove.

Do Glowing Stoves supply and install Hunter Stoves?

Yes, we do. We also supply other wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves from the Hunter group. If you require a traditional log burner, Hunter has many stoves to suit. However, the Hunter group also makes Parkray, Di Lusso, Cleanburn, Avalon, Eco Ideal, and Herald. Glowing Stoves supply and install all of these stove brands.

Can Glowing Stoves supply and install other stoves?

Absolutely! We supply many other stoves directly from the manufacturers. This helps us be as competitive as possible. Call us for great prices on Pevex, Hunter, F2, Ecosy, Mi-Fires, ACR, Heta, Beltane, Newbourne, Bohemia, Parkray, Hunter, and many more.

Despite being extremely busy this winter, we will always try to help with advice and questions when choosing your stove. However, this year has been our busiest ever. As a result, we are not as responsive as we would like to be. However, please email James at Glowing Stoves at info@glowingstoves.co.uk and he will get back to you promptly.
